This month we will continue our look at the Iberostar resorts. We will look at the 3 remaining Iberostar resorts located in Mexico. Two of them are in the Cancun hotel zone and one is in Playa Mita, just north of Puerto Vallarta. The two located in Cancun are located on the same property. They are using the resort within a resort concept. They are all Iberostar Resorts highest level. These are fairly large resorts.
The first resort we will look at is the Iberostar Selection Cancun. This resort is located closer to the South end of Cancun Beach and the Hotel Zone. This used to be the old Hilton Hotel with its distinct Mayan pyramid design. It sits across the street from one of the few Mayan ruins located in Cancun. There is also a golf course just across the street, and the beach in front of the resort goes on forever. There are two sections to the resort. The main building shaped like a Mayan Pyramid and the Villas.
Accommodations consist of regular rooms with a garden view, partial ocean view and ocean view. All rooms come with either a king size bed or 2 queen size beds. All rooms have 24 hr. room service, mini bar, Wifi, and upgraded bath amenities. The villas consist of 1 king bed or 2 double beds and have a garden view, ocean view or a swim-out villa. There is a separate pool for the villas only. There is a 1,500 sq. ft ocean front superior villa. On top of these accommodations there is the 900 sq. ft Ocean View Suite, the 1,400 sq. ft. Master Suite and at the top, the 3,700 sq. ft Presidential Suite.
As far as dining at the Iberostar Selection Resort there is a buffet and 5 A La Carte restaurants. The A La Carte restaurants consist of, American, Mexican, Japanese, Gourmet, and a Steak House. Guests also have the choice of 24 hr. room service. As far as drinks you have 9 bars to choose from including a swim-up bar and a snack bar in the form of a food truck.
Activities consist of a huge endless beach, 10 pools, a fantastic spa, a kid’s club, divided into 3 age groups, 4-7, 8-12, 13-17, 2 tennis courts, 2 volleyball courts, soccer field, and a full gym, and daily and nightly entertainment. As far as the water there is a dive center located on the resort grounds for scuba diving and snorkeling. The water here is a little too rough for kayaks, sailing, and paddle boards. There is a great spa on the property
This resort is great for families that are looking for a very nice 4-star all-inclusive resort on a great beach and close to Cancun. Great for destination Weddings and Honeymoons. As far as the nightlife and shopping in Cancun since the resort sits closer to the Southern end of the Hotel zone clients would have to take the local bus or taxi to the areas where the nightlife and shopping are located.
The next resort we will look at is what is known as a resort within a resort the Iberostar Coral Level at the Iberostar Selection Resort. This resort is located within the Iberostar Selection resort. It provides an upscale adult resort with the best ocean view, another level of service and comfort, concierge service, and a private pool. It sits on the same beach as the Iberostar Selection Resort. Guests of the Coral Level have access to all the resort facilities of the whole resort complex.
The accommodations here are all Jr. Suites. They all are Ocean Front with the standard Ocean Front Jr. Suite, the Corner Ocean Front Jr. Suite, Roof top Jr. Suite, and Corner Rooftop Jr. Suite. The roof top Jr. Suites both have private plunge pools. There is Wifi, minibar, and 24 hr. room service.
Dining consists of an International Buffet, a snack bar and all the restaurants available to the main resort, the Iberostar Selection resort. This gives this resort a choice of 8 different dining choices. As far as bars there are 3 private bars including a swim-up bar as well as all the other bars on the property. There is, of course, 24 hr. room service. There is the concierge service to make restaurant reservations as well as any other services your clients require.
Activities offered include all the activities of the main resort plus wine tasting, private pool and beach club, as well as golf.
This resort is great for families and groups where some people require the family option, and some want a more adult area, yet everyone can mingle somewhere on the resort property. Great for weddings.
The last resort we are going to look at this month is the Iberostar Selection Playa Mita. This resort sits about 1 hr. North of Puerto Vallarta. This area is fantastic and less crowded than other areas of Puerto Vallarta. It sits close to Punta Mita, one of the more upscale areas of Puerto Vallarta. It also sits close to the iconic town of Sayulita, one of the top surfing areas in Mexico There is a golf course next to the resort. This is a great 4-star family resort. Iberostar is planning a new Adult only resort in the same area. You still have access to the town of Puerto Vallarta about 1 hr. to the South yet can retreat to the comfort of this resort. It sits on a great beach and the grounds are beautiful. The resort was built using 100% local material.
Accommodations consist of Standard rooms with a garden or golf course view, Ocean view rooms, Ocean Front Rooms, Jr Suite which are closest to the beach, Ocean Front Jr. Suite which has the best ocean view, 2 bedroom Family Suite which is 2 connecting rooms, one with 2 double beds and one with 1 king bed, and the 2,600 sq. ft. Presidential Suite. All accommodations have Wifi, minibar, and 24 hr. room service.
Dining offers a great selection. There are 5 dining choices, an International Buffet and 4 A La Carte Restaurants offering, Mexican, A Steak House, Japanese, French. As far drinks the resort has 8 bars including a cigar bar and a swim-up bar, and a coffee bar that serves a variety of coffees, drinks, and sandwiches. There is also 24 hr. room service.
Activities abound at this resort with Tennis, golf, daily entertainment, Scuba diving and snorkeling from the dive center on the resort, kayaks, sailing, nightly entertainment, an a kid’s club divided into 3 age groups, 4-7,8-12, 13-17 with a variety of age appropriate activities, both indoor and outdoor. There is a fantastic spa and a full-service gym. Don’t forget the full array of tours that can be booked at the resort or before you clients travel.
This resort is great for families or couples that want a very nice up-scale 4-star resort located in my opinion, one of the most beautiful areas in Mexico. A little tip, Puerto Vallarta has some of the best pricing in all of Mexico and the Caribbean. A real hidden gem. This resort is also great for Destination Weddings and Honeymoons.
