New York, N.Y. – November 10, 2021 – Insight Vacations, the award-winning leader in premium guided tours, is thrilled to share that it won the The WTM World Responsible Tourism Award for its MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experiences in the regional “Rest of the World” Gold category for “Growing the Local Economic Benefit.” The WTM Awards highlight the very best work in responsible tourism that are inspiring others across the industry. This specific category highlights how tour operators can help create additional livelihoods for local communities through small and mid-size enterprise (SME) and micro entrepreneurial activity.

Insight’s MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experiences aim to advance 11 of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) which positively impact the communities they visit. These experiences connect guests with people, the planet and wildlife and promote the values of sustainable tourism. There is now at least one MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience on 100% of itineraries beginning in 2022 with 73 unique MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experiences across 124 itineraries in 17 countries in Europe, as well as Egypt, Morocco, Turkey, Jordan, Israel, India, Nepal, and North and South America. One of the 27 new 2022-23 MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experiences is Wonder Grottole, Italy on the Country Roads of Puglia & The Neapolitan Riviera premium guided tour. Through this experience, guests can become a participant of change as they help bring the rustic beauty of an abandoned rural village back to life.

“We are absolutely honored to receive this WTM World Responsible Tourism Award for our MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experiences along with the continued support and guidance of our TreadRight Foundation,” said Ulla Hefel Böhler, CEO of Insight Vacations and Luxury Gold. “These sustainable experiences are now featured on every 2022-23 tour worldwide and we are further inspired to continue making a lasting impact with the local communities we visit,” she concluded.
