MCLEAN, Va. and SÃO PAULO – Hilton (NYSE: HLT) and Atlantica Hotels today announced the signing of a management license agreement whereby Atlantica plans to develop and manage DoubleTree by Hilton hotels in Brazil. As part of this agreement, the companies also announced the first planned DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Porto Alegre, Brazil. This agreement will introduce DoubleTree by Hilton in Brazil, underscoring Hilton’s continued commitment in the Caribbean and Latin America to introduce the company’s industry-leading brands across the region.

“Through our partnership with Atlantica Hotels, we successfully launched the Hilton Garden Inn brand in Brazil and we look forward to further expanding our in-market portfolio with the debut of DoubleTree by Hilton,” said Ted Middleton, senior vice president, development, Latin America, Hilton. “With the largest economy in South America, Brazil remains a focus in our company’s regional growth as it offers great potential for our local investors and continues rising as a top destination for our loyal guests.”

DoubleTree by Hilton joins Atlantica’s portfolio of 19 brands represented by 120 hotels in Brazil, including Hilton Garden Inn. Hilton and Atlantica have opened four Hilton Garden Inn hotels in Brazil, including the recently-debuted, 153-room Hilton Garden Inn Itajaí, located near Brava Beach, Hilton Garden Inn Goiania, Hilton Garden Inn Belo Horizonte and Hilton Garden Inn Santo André. The companies plan to open two additional Hilton Garden Inn hotels in Fortaleza and São Paulo.

“Building upon the success of our recent openings, we are working with Hilton to introduce another leading brand in Brazil with DoubleTree by Hilton,” said Eduardo Giestas, CEO, Atlantica Hotels. “We are excited to continue growing our portfolio in this thriving market alongside a well-respected hospitality company such as Hilton.”

Scheduled to open in 2021, the first DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Brazil will be located at Padre Cacique Avenue, in the city of Porto Alegre and Rio Grande do Sul state. The 141-room DoubleTree by Hilton Pontal Porto Alegre will form part of a large complex developed by Melnick Even, which includes a shopping mall and office tower. The hotel will feature 1,000 square meters of meetings and events space, providing a welcoming ambiance perfect for business meetings or social activities.

“From opening our first DoubleTree by Hilton hotel 50 years ago, to opening the first DoubleTree by Hilton property in Brazil in 2021, our commitment to innovation and sharing our hospitality with guests around the world stands true,” said Shawn McAteer, senior vice president and global head, DoubleTree by Hilton. “With DoubleTree by Hilton Pontal Porto Alegre, Brazil and its travelers will experience the brand’s warm welcome and philosophy that little details make a big difference.”
