Fred. Olsen Staff, Guests and Crew Raise £1,400 for the RNLI’s ‘Fish Supper’ Campaign

Fred. Olsen staff, guests and crew raise £1,400 for the RNLI’s ‘Fish Supper’ campaign, both on land and at sea

5th November 2019 – It was a fishy affair at Fred. Olsen’s offices in Ipswich, Suffolk last week, as staff, guests and crew united in support of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (‘RNLI’) and its annual ‘Fish Supper’ campaign, raising nearly £1,500.

The RNLI’s ‘Fish Supper’ campaign encourages people to get together with friends, family and their local communities, to have fun and enjoy a fish-themed dish to support the charity’s life-saving work.

Guests on board Fred. Olsen’s flagship Balmoral enjoyed a sumptuous five-course dinner in ‘The Grill’ specialty restaurant, as the ship sailed around Spain, and Black Watch’s guests got behind the campaign with a specially-prepared feast in the ‘Black Watch Room’, as they also headed for Spain. This followed the sale of raffle tickets on board, in which guests could win places at the exclusive ‘Fish Supper Dinners’, raising nearly £1,200.

Meanwhile, Fred. Olsen Limited and Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ staff in Ipswich enjoyed a ‘fish and chip lunch’ delivered to their offices, with support from Friday’s chip shop in the town’s nearby Meredith Road who prepared more than 70 delicious lunches, adding more than £270 to the impressive total.

Thomas Rennesland, Hotel Operations Director at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, said:

“It was great fun to be able to support the RNLI’s ‘Fish Supper’ in this way. Our guests on board always get behind our fundraising initiatives, and this event was certainly no exception. With only a limited number of tables available at the special Dinners on board, tickets were in high demand!

“Of course, the teams in Ipswich enjoyed their fish and chip lunches, too, and there was a real buzz here last week.

“To be able to have fun and enjoy good food, whilst at the same time raising vital funds for such an important cause, is a real ‘win, win’.”

Alice Dewsnap-Smith, Corporate Manager for the RNLI, said:

“Once again, we have been overwhelmed by the support of Fred. Olsen staff, their guests and crew for our ‘Fish Supper’ campaign. We’d like to say a massive thank-you to everyone who took part in the events and donated.

“Every penny raised when you host a ‘Fish Supper’ supports all aspects of our life-saving work, providing vital crew kit, fuel for lifeboats and essential training.”
