Travel Agent News for AmaWaterways

CALABASAS, CA – (November 7, 2019) AmaWaterways—acclaimed luxury river cruise line and leader in specialty Wine Cruises—partners with wine expert, television host, and award-winning author Leslie Sbrocco on her new national American Public Television series “100 Days, Drinks, Dishes & Destinations.” Debuting October 26, 2019, the 13-episode series includes four episodes filmed during AmaWaterways’ seven-night Romantic Danube river cruise onboard AmaSonata. Following Sbrocco’s epicurean adventures through Austria, Germany, Hungary, and Slovakia, two episodes, “Episode 3: Vienna, Austria” and “Episode 5: Undiscovered Danube, Europe,” air this fall with two additional episodes slated for release in spring 2020. Highlights include sampling traditional delicacies, helping to prepare famed regional specialties, and participating in wine tastings at some of Europe’s most picturesque vineyards—all experiences guests can enjoy onboard an AmaWaterways sailing.

“We are proud sponsors of Leslie’s first APT series as she shares AmaWaterways’ passion for discovering new destinations through food and beverage,” says Rudi Schreiner, president and co-founder of AmaWaterways. “Her enthusiasm for cultural exploration is contagious and we are eager to see her bring AmaWaterways’ gastronomic and cultural experiences to a broader television audience through these four episodes filmed along the Danube.”

First up for AmaWaterways, “Episode 3: Vienna, Austria” spotlights Sbrocco’s culinary tour of the capital city with visits to traditional eateries, cozy coffee houses, and indulgence in regional delights such as sausage, schnitzel, Sekt, and the iconic Sachertorte—an elegant dessert comprised of layers of rich chocolate cake, jam, and silky chocolate icing. Blending gastronomy and culture, Sbrocco also takes travelers on an unforgettable journey through the dramatic architecture of the “City of Waltzes,” majestic Ringstrasse road, and St. Stephen’s Cathedral.

The second AmaWaterways episode airing this fall, “Episode 5: Undiscovered Danube, Europe,” pays homage to the picturesque towns and hillside vineyards along the Danube River. Audiences join Sbrocco as she sails through Linz, Weissenkirchen, Bratislava, and Budapest exploring medieval fortresses and enjoying tastings at local vineyards and breweries. Additionally, Sbrocco prepares the traditional Linzertorte, a celebrated Austrian pastry made with fruit preserves and sliced nuts, topped with a delicate lattice design. Sbrocco’s Danube experience continues while onboard the 156-guestAmaSonata as she enjoys AmaWaterways’ award-winning cuisine including regional menu selections, wine paired dinners, and the innovative Chef’s Table restaurant—an intimate dining experience that allows guests to look on as the chef prepares a multi-course tasting menu.

“Partnering with AmaWaterways to bring the world of food, drinks, and culture to television viewers has been a wonderful experience. Their ships define state-of-the-art elegance and the company’s focus on providing the best in hospitality is evident in every thoughtful detail. We both share a passion for experiencing the world through a culinary lens providing palate-pleasing adventures on-screen and onboard,” said Sbrocco.

Sailing between Vilshofen, Germany and Budapest, Hungary, AmaWaterways’ Romantic Danuberiver cruise immerses guests in the romance of Europe’s grand cities with included tours of UNESCO-listed sites, special tastings at local wineries, and unique cultural experiences including an exclusive AmaWaterways Oktoberfest celebration.
